Regan Becker Regan Becker 6'0" | CG St. James Academy | 2026 State KS , 6’0″, PF/CG, St. James Academy (KS), 2026 – Becker made the all-event defensive team and was selected by my Kansas colleague Adrian Maloney as one of the top five shooters. Maloney right away said “Becker the freshman can shoot with the best of them!” He liked how she maneuvered, had a “eye of the tiger look” with the clock winding down, and the ability – “rare for most player at a high level playing up” – to finish through contact and with both hands. Among the things I mentioned in the defensive team article was that she surprised those she battled inside when they learned she was a freshman. She was easily the smartest and strongest post defender in the house and her play was very workmanlike. She did not get sped up, she handled double team pressure when she picked the ball up, shot the perimeter shot well off the catch and off the casual dribble with a quick release and good release point.
Brynnae Johnson Brynnae Johnson 5'8" | CG Lawrence | 2025 State KS , 5’8″, CG, Lawrence (KS), 2025 – While Johnson was fairly unfamiliar to me, other players and coaches who were left extremely impressed with Johnson’s play. She showed strength and quickness off the drive. A terrific play came from a drive in which she was stopped mid-lane. She did a quick pivot and got a lay-in. Leading the break with her head always on a swivel, with speed, and with strong handles showed her IQ and her athleticism. Johnson also shot well behind the arc off the catch and off the dribble. I would like to see her get the ball off the glass higher.
Mallory Miller Mallory Miller 6'4" | C Wolsey-Wessington | 2023 State SD , 6’4″, C, Wolsey Wessington (SD), 2023 – Miller was the tallest and longest player in attendance and after watching some video before the event I was looking forward to seeing not just her play but how other bigs matched up with her. She was going to be a tall order, so to speak, for most to match up with and compete against and that proved true. Another all-defensive team selection, Miller frequently was not challenged inside due to her height and length. She swatted several shots a game. When she was challenged, especially by Regan Becker Regan Becker 6'0" | CG St. James Academy | 2026 State KS and 6’3″ Daphne Bracker-Sturm Daphne Bracker-Sturm 6'3" | C Lawrence | 2023 State KS , she displayed versatility in adjusting to each player’s games. She had the athleticism, speed, and perimeter ability on both ends. Despite the sheer size and strength advantage Bracker-Sturm had inside she challenged every move and shot put up. Miller is a terrific perimeter shooter and will hit the three-ball with range. She also attacks off the dribble. As she gets stronger the mismatches she creates on the floor will be even more pronounced. Look out South Dakota!
Lanicia Parker, 5’9″, PG/SG, North Kansas City (MO), 2025 – The last defensive team selection on the first team, Parker just flat destroyed ball handlers. At most two opposing guards on each team could even begin to handle her constant quickness and physicality. She was also extremely sticky off the ball. Off the steal Parker was very fast with the ball and finished with speed with either hand. A wiry player, her hand and foot speed matched her aggressiveness and defensive smarts to cause turnover after turnover.
Eva Uhrmacher Eva Uhrmacher 5'7" | CG Blue Springs South | 2026 State MO , 5’7″, PG, Blue Springs South (MO), 2026 – Uhrmaker has a consistently great first step. It was there whether she looked to get to the hole or to burst past a defender in the back court. And she arguably had the strongest crossover dribble to go with it. An early issue I picked up on was her tendency to hang the ball out on basket drives. With the competition she faced, the majority of the time the ball got tipped away or was stolen. Once to the rim she finished well with speed, against contact, and with either hand. However, she used that tendency to her advantage on the perimeter. She repeatedly suckered defenders to lean wrong a little bit and then quickly blew by them before they could recover. Uhrmacher is fast, athletic, and handles in transition with speed, and is a credible perimeter threat.
