Kodi Greer Kodi Greer 5'6" | PG Basehor-Linwood | 2024 State KS , 5’5″, PG, Gardner-Edgerton (KS), 2024 – Also an event all-defensive team selection, Greer showed herself to be a terrific 1-on-1 defender. She also is a versatile and athletic offensive player who can hit the three and make the quick touch back, entry pass to a cutter.
Destiny Smith Destiny Smith 5'7" | CG Derby | 2024 State KS , 5’6″, PG, Derby (KS), 2024 – North Kansas City’s Lanicia Parker was clearly the top perimeter defender of the event, just devouring people. Smith was one of the few ball handlers who could handle that pressure. She accomplished it with terrific ball skills and poise. A stand out play was when she attacked Parker down the middle of the lane. She stopped, pivoted out, and scored a nice pop-out jumper out of the pivot. Smith did a good job of facilitating all day and taking shots and opportunities as they were presented. Defensively she was quietly solid.
Daphne Bracker-Sturm Daphne Bracker-Sturm 6'3" | C Lawrence | 2023 State KS , 6’3″, C, Lawrence (KS), 2023 – Bracker-Sturm has grown enormously since the beginning of the summer. She has been 6’3″ the whole time but her game has risen five levels. Against several strong opponents she matched up with she showed not just an ability to play with the best players but at times even bullied them. It all started with her quickness, something she has worked hard on. It enabled her to hold defensive position against moves and she applied it to the many post moves she made, scoring with either hand. Baby hooks, good use of the glass and turnaround jumpers she accomplished well. She also hit the mid-range jumper and would take the occasional three ball. She hustled, transitioned well, and benefited from out-working her opponents at times. Bracker-Sturm walled up well and showed solid strength, able to rip balls away from other players rather than settle for a held ball.
Tamia Davis Tamia Davis 6'0" | SF Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, SF, Blue Valley Northwest (KS), 2024 – The game I really watched Davis was not one that she played to her potential in. With that being said, it was the last game of the day, Davis is long; fast; athletic; has ball skills; and is a serious threat to score at all three levels. Two things I really liked was her defensive positioning and her footwork on both ends. Davis did a good job off the ball and was able to generate turnovers from just being where she should be. Her footwork got her a serious big first step with the ball, to the basket off the catch, and enabled her to stay in a good defensive stance. What will increase her effectiveness with the ball is to show that she knows what she is going to do with the ball before she ever makes a move. It will help her with passing to the shooter off the drive and to identify defensive weaknesses.
Ty’riana Stanford Ty’riana Stanford 5'11" Olathe North | 2023 KS , 5’9″, SG, Olathe North (KS), 2023 – Stanford almost made the defensive team. Just so sticky on anybody she is covered to the point of annoyance. Stanford has great length for her height and is very quick. She easily can play the small forward position successfully. I really liked watching her work with her head up in transition, surveying the floor to help her decide what to do with the ball. Stanford was a solid three point threat and showed a terrific ability to score in the mid-range and around the basket.
