Ayla McDowell Ayla McDowell 6'2" | SF Cy Springs | 2025 State TX -6’1 SG/SF (Cy Springs) 2025
McDowell has taken her game to yet another level but let’s start with her being “long and athletic” which I refer to as the BASE. Her intangibles are all over the place because her mid to long-range was consistent, she scored off the dribble and she did a job on defense. She also has good timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots. She has elevated her game since I caught her here last season and will be UPGRADED
Aaliyah Williams Aaliyah Williams 5'7" | CG St Agnes Academy | 2025 State TX -G (St Agnes) 2025
Williams is an athletic guard with a nice first step who was able to get to the basket basically whenever she wanted. She finishes strongly, yes after contact is included, and also showed she could drop the midrange pull-up jumper
Melinda Winston Melinda Winston 6'0" | PF Alief Hastings | 2024 State TX -SF (Hastings) 2024
Winston was a terror on the inside as she rebounded on both ends yet she also handled the ball after rebounding and went coast to coast a few times. She scored on putbacks, as well as around the basket yet she has expanded her range and was dropping the long ball with a hand in her face. Needless to say, she defended both inside and outside the paint
Shunteria Anumele Shunteria Anumele 5'8" | SG Legacy Sports School of Science | 2024 State TX -SG ( Brookshire Royal) 2024
Anumele scored basically however and whenever she wanted. She sets the defender up nicely to attack the basket yet her pull-up jumper is consistent so that played a part but so did her deceptive first step. Her defense was solid, plus she plays the passing lane and saw the floor in transition
Di’Aunestie Henderson- G (Cy Springs) 2023
Henderson used her athleticism well and made things happen. She goes after the ball off the rim, or if it’s loose, she just has a knack to be in the right place. She also scored well off the dribble and used nice body control on her finishes. Her pull-up jumper was also nice and she’ll play a huge part in how far her team goes in the playoffs
Dom Amugu-CG (Hastings) 2023
Amugu saw the floor quite well in the set yet her athleticism at the guard spot shined on both ends. She brought “on the ball” heat and helped create turnovers but she also attacked and dished to give her teammates good looks. Her pull-up jumper was also solid and she dropped both the mid and long-range
Crystal Hayes-PF (Madison) 2023
Hayes plays multiple positions and at 6’4, her versatility stands out. She handled the ball at the 1 and saw the floor but she also switched over to drop jumpers. She also has the “long and athletic” to go with her size and she rebounded as well as changed up some shots that came her way
Shanice Ferguson- SF (Madison ) 2023
Ferguson goes hard, either when attacking the basket and finishing acrobatically after contact or playing smothering defense baseline to baseline. She too is “long and athletic” but her “never takes a play-off” mentality is something you can’t teach
Madison Penn- SG/SF (Lutheran North) 2023
Penn is always solid and always plays within herself. Her hard-nosed defense always stands out but she can rebound against taller players because of DESIRE as well as understanding positioning. She also scored off the dribble as well as from the midrange
