40 Prospects Included as Kansas 2026 Watch List Drops
The largest initial class watch list since the Kansas site launched January 1, 2019, dropped yesterday. It followed a rush of player observations at the Wichita I-35 Showcase and the Shawnee Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 events. 40 players make up the initial list. Players are listed alphabetically. The next Kansas rankings update, scheduled for approximately 3 months from now, will included an initial class ranking.
Kansas’ initial freshman class ranking is typically created following the start of the high school season primarily to provide opportunity to identify players impactful at the varsity level. At larger schools or schools with large returning, talented senior classes, many strong players are log-jammed and gain the majority of their minutes at the junior varsity level.
As always I want to thank my colleague Adrian Maloney and Prep Girls Hoops scouts in other states for their contributions. Club, high school, and college coaches; parents; other media sites and publication; players; and other reliable and knowledgeable sources are also appreciated for their contributions. Rankings, evaluations, watch lists, and all that goes into the site relies on many outside contributions to make this the Kansas site as rich and accurate as possible.
