The 2022-2023 season is well underway, with most teams having played a half dozen games or so through the first four weeks. With that said, I wanted to take the time to highlight five uncommitted 2023 prospects who have started off their final campaign with a bang. All five prospects, to the best of my knowledge, do remain uncommitted, and all are making a major push to increase their recruiting interest.

, 2023, 5-7 G, Greencastle H.S.
– Gloria was originally a homeschooled kid who was a part of the 2022 class, but since she never enrolled in an IHSAA school, she has reclassified and become a Senior this season at Greencastle High School. She is a high-level scorer, a hard-working ballplayer, and she has a natural feel for the game. She affects the game at both ends of the floor, and she can act as either a scoring threat, or she can be a facilitator when necessary. She also has a solid/strong frame, and she plays with a quiet toughness. Through six games, she is averaging 30.2 points, 13.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 5.0 steals per game, while shooting 85% (60-71) from the free throw line.

Seeger | 2023

, 2023, 5-4 G, Seeger H.S.
– Aubry is the leader for the 5-0 Seeger Lady Patriots, and she has really transformed her offensive game this year. In the past, she has primarily relied on perimeter shooting as a major weapon in her arsenal, but through five games this season, she has made just four 3-pointers. What she has done is figured out new ways to score around the basket, plus she has averaged nearly a point and a half more per game at the free throw line, all helping her scoring average increase by nearly six points per game from last year. She is quick/fast, feisty, and aggressive. Once she adds that perimeter shot to the mix, watch out! She is averaging 22.6 points per game this season.

, 2023, 5-7 G, New Palestine H.S.
– Isabella made nearly a seven-point jump in her scoring average from her Sophomore year to her Junior year. Through seven games as a Senior, she is up another four and a half points per game. She has always been a tough-nosed, hard-working scrapper who gets it done at both ends of the floor. But her improved perimeter shooting, her ability to make shots at all levels now as well, and her improvement in changing directions has opened up a lot more scoring opportunities. She is still a point guard by nature, and she can find open teammates on time and on target, but being a 25.1 point per game scorer this year, makes her a real problem to defend.
Layla Gold

Cathedral | 2023
State

, 2023, 6-0 F, Cathedral H.S.
– Layla is an extremely long, wiry-strong, fluidly athletic lefty. She glides to the basket almost effortlessly, and she can get there in one-dribble, even through some contact. Over the years, she has shown great touch from the perimeter, knocking down the 3-pointer at a career rate of 34.4% (118-343). When she was younger, she probably settled a little too much for the outside jumper, but now as a multilevel scorer, she is pouring in points as a Senior. Through five games, she is averaging 28.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. This Fall, she has drawn a variety of college interest from a few Division-I schools, as well as some elite small colleges.

Tri | 2023

, 2023, 6-0 C, Tri H.S.
– Bailey’s recruiting has likely been slowed a bit by her having to deal with unfortunate injury situations throughout the last year. She has a strong frame, broad shoulders, and some length at her size. She plays with a nice motor, loves physicality, and she will actually seek contact more often than not. Offensively, she has good hands and footwork, she is capable of a variety of moves around the low block, plus she has a solid face-up game in the mid-post. She is and has always been one of the best rebounders in Class 1A. This season, through six games, she is averaging 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.7 steals, and 3.3 blocked shots per game.
