Often times freshman have to come in and sit be patient and wait there turn, not in todays era where young kids are coming in from the minute they step on a high school campus ready to play. In the boot state its no different from any other state were we have what seems to be a special crop of ” Freshies” spread throughout the state and are making noise early on in there high school careers! We will take a look at a few of the special “Freshies” making their mark early on!
Yes technically she is a freshman but she came on the scene last year as an 8th grader helping her John Curtis squad to a state championship finish! Chikae early on in her freshman campaign has been asked to do more and she’s most definitely answered the call as she’s averaging 22.6ppg and 5.2 rebounds for the Lady Patriots after her first five game in which her last game she finished with 39pts going 14-22 from the field!!

Deep off in Livingston Parish sits a small town called French Settlement Louisiana and in French Settlement there’s pretty much nothing to do but HOOP. Well French Settlement High has a hooper in ’26 Pg Stella Allison Stella Allison 5’7″ | CG French Settlement | 2026 State LA who has the Lady Lions off to a 6-1 start as she’s been a bucket in her early freshman campaign. In her last outing the freshman poured in a game and season high 30 points against Port Allen High! Look for this to continue from Stella throughout the season.
Of the freshies I’ve seen thus far I would have thought production wise Miss Samuels would have low numbers seeing as though she’s on a team full of college prospects. Man was I wrong as the 6ft wing is averaging 10.2 ppg and 7.3 boards per game early on in her freshman campaign for one of the states top teams in the Lafayette Christian Lady Knights. Versatility has been a big part of her early success being able to play inside and outside!

Give her the keys to the car as a freshman, that’s usually unheard of to have a Freshie running the show in year one but that’s exactly what Kyndal is doing for her Huntington Lady Raiders squad this year. One of the states top teams regardless of classification is lead by one of the states top Pg prospects regardless of class. Early on Kyndal has showed that size doesn’t matter and she’s more then a kid with an excellent handle as she’s proven she can create for her teammates and is more then capable of knocking down the long ball consistently as in one game she connected on six long balls!
Although she’s only had two games in her Freshman campaign Ty has alot of people in south Louisiana asking “Who’s that kid”? The 5’8 combo guard in two games is averaging 10.3 ppg but where she makes her mark is with her energy and toughness. With a body of a 4 year starter Ty’s athleticism and pure heart is what’s setting her apart from the rest of her class early on in her first year paying high school ball.
