With that being said, I got creative and worked Friday morning and Saturday into the schedule. I am glad I did. My VIPs, Ace and Cali, had a great time between the concessions and the food trucks.
The event had a good group of teams from various parts of the state and a tough bonus team out of North Carolina. It was a well run and did a great job celebrating the performances of the girls competing.
Here are some players from Fulton and Gwinnett county teams that either impressed or caught my eye with stellar play.
Jania played very well in a match-up against Grayson. She can do a lot of damage as a 5’11 guard with athleticism, skill, and an edge on the court. She is a threat to score in transition if she does not see a determined defender. The craftiness she showed around the rim was impressive as well. Her intangibles show up on defense as well. A canny player that can get it done on both sides of the floor.
Tatum is an energizer for any team she’s playing on. When it comes to a motor, it is hard to outmatch hers. She brought her usual energy to the game and it equaled production. She has several dribble moves that she can use to get by defenders. As she continues to develop in her reads she will become even more effective at scoring. She has the tools to a very good on-ball defender as well.

Cadence showed passion as a rebounder. She consistently snatched the ball off the glass. She has an explosive jump and seemed to grab the rebound, land, and be back up for the offensive outback before everyone else had figured out who got the board.
She’s a solid guard that moves better than you would assume. She made smart and sometimes surprising drives that ended with contact layups and finishes. She showed her vision as well making sure defenders fully committed before dropping off the pass. She moves much better than you would probably assume.
She played hard all game. She pushed in transition effectively after settling into Carrollton’s intense pressure. She made some tough, contested layups. She was also able to use her bounce to extend plays and find open teammates. Pretty solid point guard.
Paris Shelton

Small guard that loves to use her floater whenever she’s below the FT line. She caused several turnovers in her game against Wheeler which helped build a lead that was maintained all game. Paris is tough and scrappy and makes positive plays through her energy and effort. Her catch-and-shoot jumper looked good from the wing when left open.
Zoie Loftin
Zoie Loftin
The freshman point guard has a nice tempo to her game. She handled the speed of the game well in clean-up minutes. She may have been a little more unselfish than needed at that point in the game, but she still made some nice reads and placed passes well.
Tia McGee
Tia McGee
Constance showed nice pass placement, especially in fastbreak situations. She has good judgment on when to give it up, making good reads to take advantage of transition numbers.
Jordyn London

Jordyn seemed to always make a play that shifted the momentum in Banneker’s favor. She made a tough layup through the foul which sparked a run. Late in the third quarter, she worked for extra possessions showing she was tough to keep off of the boards. She played with a competitive edge that did not waiver regardless of time and score.
