Knightdale hosted their annual preseason jamboree. High school teams were able to compete against one another in their last tournament before the season kicks off this week. Here are some of the ball handlers that stood out to me at the event.
She certainly showed off her range at the jamboree. She does well maneuvering around her opponents and using changes of speed to get by her defenders.handled the ball for much of the game, and she showed some great adjustments off the pass to put up her shot.
Tashawna Garner was handling the ball and knocking down shots from deep. Her fakes helped her get around her defender to open up the court in order to find an open teammate. She slid into passing lanes to grab steals and immediately pushed them up the court.
Taryn Pekala was the main ball handler for her team. She was finding ways to zip a pass inside to her teammate cutting to the basket making sure it wasn’t picked off. She was a pesky defender constantly knocking the ball away from her opponents making it difficult for them to get anything going. She did well showing off her shot off the pass, too.
She can handle the ball driving hard to the basket, or she can set herself up around the perimeter finding the openings to get the pass and shoot. She’s a tough defender, too, staying in the face of her opponents.was constantly moving on the offensive side of the ball directing her teammates where to go.
