Knightdale High School hosted their annual preseason jamboree last weekend where high schools could have one more opportunity to play as a team and figure out their identity for the upcoming season. Here are some of the most versatile athletes that I saw over the course of the day on Saturday.
Audrey Ericksen was constantly talking on the court directing her teammates where to go and communicating on defense to make sure her team knew where they had help. She was aggressive inside getting rebounds, and she knew how to readjust using power dribbles to score some points. She was doing it all for her team handling the ball, rebounding, knocking down shots from deep, and getting some points inside. She is committed to playing at Boston University next season.
She laid it in easily even through contact. She runs the floor being ready on offense to score on fast breaks. She can knock down shots from around the perimeter, too. She was constantly deflecting passes, and she can push it up the court to score two points.was flashing in and out of the paint making effective cuts and showing a big target to get the pass.
She did a nice job finding an opening even when it seemed the offensive play had broken down. Her ability to score on multiple levels and guard a variety of opponents makes her a fun player to watch. She has committed to Howard for next season.was all over the court blocking shots to running the floor on fast breaks to grabbing rebounds.
MeiLani Patterson was making it look easy driving had to the hoop and finishing at the rim. She had a tough baseline drive finishing with a reverse underneath the basket. She didn’t shy away from getting underneath the basket and up high for some rebounds. She cut in and out of the paint flashing with her hands up to catch the pass. She is sneaky getting behind her defenders filling in the gaps.
Ramatou Diabi was getting open in the paint showing off some power dribbles to make her move and score. While working the high post, she found her teammates underneath the basket for some points. She got up high to grab rebounds knowing where to get the ball quickly to push it up the court.
Kamea Davis handled the ball well up the court using behind the back dribbles to get by her opponents. She has a quick close out on shots around the perimeter where she was able to block shots. She took these blocks as steals and pushed it all the way to the other end of the court. She saw the floor well finding her open teammates cutting to the basket.
Audra Hillman grabbed steals and immediately pushed it up the court finding her open teammates cutting to the basket. She got up high to grab rebounds. She had a nice pass all the way up the court finding her open teammate for the lay up. She did well creating space for herself to pull up for three points.
