As an advocate for women’s basketball in Oklahoma, I am excited to cover players that work hard and aspire to play basketball at a high-level and be the best version of themselves on and off the court. The players below have shown they are talented and have been named my Top 5 players of the 2024 class.

Zya is an electric guard that has flown under the radar nationally in the class of 2024. She shows a lot of greatness on the court due to the work she puts in on both ends. She handles the ball with a lot of pace and creativity – is quick off the dribble, and knows how to create space for her shot. She is a threat from behind the 3-point line and will attack the open gaps with explosiveness and finish at the rim through traffic and contact. At the point guard position she distributes the ball well to her teammates and can easily take over the game and score in bunches. Defensively she shows great instincts with her quick hands and quick feet, making thing super difficult for the opposition. Arguably the best 2-way player in the state of Oklahoma. I like her game and she will make a huge impact in her junior year at Bethany High School.
Caya is an athletic forward with handles and ability to attack off the dribble. She does a good job maneuvering through traffic and finding the open gap to get to the rim. She is long and can finish over the top, around, and even through the defense in the paint if needed. She is at her best on the defensive end due to her length, lateral quickness, and overall athleticism. She pressures the ball well and has elite instincts off the ball when rotating– knowing where the ball is and usually the first to the ball. I would like to see her use her athleticism more in the paint and if she develops a stronger inside-game her stock with continue to rise. Caya has been recognized the 39th ranked player nationally in the class of 2024 according to ESPN W, and I believe she is only going to get better.
Jill is a bouncy guard with several aspects to her game that make her special. If you watch her close, she can hurt you in so many ways. She has a quick release when shooting, and range that make it necessary to pick her up at half court. She has good footwork that allows her to score in different ways – off the catch, in the mid-range, and at the rim. She is constantly moving, running off multiple screens and providing instant offense. Yes, she is a 3-level scorer and plays a pivotal role to the success of her team. One of Jill’s super powers is her high-basketball IQ. She is never in a rush, but always on time making the correct play and sharing the ball with her team. Another thing that makes Jill unique is her deceptive athleticism. She can jump out of the gym and she uses her ability to rise above the defense when scoring at the rim and into her pull-up jumper.
Standing at 6-foot 6 inches, Mary is a force to be reckoned with at the Center position. She towers over players and easily moves them when needed. She is capable of over-powering the opposition but she uses her skill of footwork to maneuver in the pain and that is what makes her special. She has great touch around the rim and can finish over both shoulders. She works in the post and gets to her spots. She does a good job keeping the ball high and away from the defense – shooting high percentage shots time after time. She is easily the most dominate player at her position and she is continuing to grow in her game and will continue to get better.
Standing at 6-feet 1-inches, Hannah is a player I have followed and knew of since she was in middle school. Her size stands out immediately but what she does with her size makes her a player that you must respect. She can play on the perimeter by shooting the outside shot or putting the ball on the floor and muscle her way to the basket. Hannah is at her best with she uses her body and works on the block. I think she is still learning it but once she figures it out, she will be unstoppable. She is talented and I look to catch her in more games this coming year at Kiefer High school and with her new AAU team, Oklahoma Swift.
