Providence Day hosted their Super Scrimmage last Saturday with talent all across the state coming to compete. Here are some names that may be new to you and should definitely be kept on your radar.
Laila Bush showed off a nice turn around jump shot shooting over her opponents for some points. She did a nice job finding her open teammates underneath the basket for points. She had a nice drive using her speed to get by her defenders as they slowed down getting back.
Kirstin Smalls was blocking shots and making things difficult anywhere near the basket. Her hands were constantly causing deflections making it difficult for opposing offenses to get flowing. She runs the floor well preventing her opponents from getting any fast break points.
She used her fakes throughout the game even showing off a difficult drive baseline for some points. She was patient letting plays develop to get the ball inside to her post players. She used a nice in and out move, too, to create some space from her opponent.had a nice Euro step on a fast break to score two points.
She runs the floor well in transition showing off a nice reverse layup late in the game to tie it up. She went on to sink both free throws that eventually became the game winning points for her team against a tough 4A opponent.does a nice job moving with the ball, using crossovers to create space to put up her jump shot.
Ashley Iagnemma had a nice shot from deep showing that off on multiple occasions. She had a nice pass up the court in transition late in the game finding her open teammate for some points to take the lead. She sees the floor well knowing where to move to find the open areas for her own shot or a nice pass to her teammate.
She followed shots hustling after rebounds. She shows a great awareness on the court of how to put up her shot whether it’s a jump shot or floater. She will find a way to put the ball through the hoop.was quick on defense using her speed to slow down transition points and jump into passing lanes.
