Continue ReadingAva Zediker Ava Zediker 5’10” | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA is the starting point guard for Downing Catholic high school coming into her sophomore season and she is already making some big time noise. Zediker, who comes in being ranked the #4 overall player in the class of 2025, started off her season by scoring 30 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and passing out 8 assists on they way to a big victory to become 1-0 on the season. Her game is extremely hard to guard at the high school level. Her ability to shoot, pass, defend, and keep the same energy for the entirety of a game is second to none. She possesses the stamina to full court press for an entire game and still be productive for her team on the offensive side of the floor. It’s to no surprise that she comes in as the #1 point guard in this class and the entire state of Iowa as she will most likely move up on that list by the end of this current season. Her ceiling and high motor make her a dream for a college coach that has a strict defensive system and quick offense. I’ll be looking forward to seeing some big game out of her the rest of this season and into the future.
Breckyn Schilling Breckyn Schilling 5’11” | SF North Mahaska | 2025 State IA slides into this rankings update at the #13 spot for the class of 2025. Schilling is a lengthy forward with a big wing span, good hands and fundamental footwork. She is a mismatch at her forward position as she usually is much quicker than the opponent guarding her. If she is not, she is most likely longer and can finish around the defender at the rim. She has a good handle for the ball with a smart head on her shoulders when it comes to decision making. This season for her North Mahaska high school team she’ll be asked to be their leader through each game they will play. Her experience accompanied with her skill and teammates around her will make this season a fun one as she will continue to dominate within the arc on offense while also being able to guard anyone on the defensive end of the floor.
Highlights
Ella Moser Ella Moser 5’8″ | SG Cedar Rapids Kennedy | 2025 State IA jumps into the rankings in this update for her leadership, accountability, and scoring potential for her team. Playing the shooting guard position most of the time, Moser has the ability in high school to bring the ball up and play the point guard spot as well. She comes in at a good length, athleticism, and speed for how she plays. Keeping everything in control and calm, while running the show. A major “pro” of her game is her ability to shoot the ball but not settle. She is a balanced jump shooter who knows how to find her own but isn’t going to force anything if it isn’t necessary. After coming off of a successful AAU season with Team Iowa Blue Star 15u, she will attempt to help make an instant impact in the Cedar Rapids-Kennedy program for high school ball. Her skill set will put her above others her age but seeing the floor at her age will tend to be her goal as the season progresses. In a program that returns a good amount of players from a year ago with some senior experience, it’ll be interesting if she will be utilized right away like she has the ability to be. Until then she will just keep her head down and working until she is called upon to take over as their leader in most, if not all facets of the game.
Alyssa Bartlett Alyssa Bartlett 5’7″ | PG Southeast Polk | 2025 State IA returns as Southeast Polk high school’s starting point guard for the 22′-23′ season. Bartlett, a solid overall player and great teammate, is scoring point guard with the ability to pass and rebound. She has put in a lot of work over the past few seasons to expand her offensive game to all three levels of the floor while being an accurate passer for her teammates. Her ability to create for the others around her is one of the best attributes looking toward the future, as every great college program needs a player who can create for others. This season will be a telling one for herself and the Rams as they will aim to compete in conference and take that momentum into the playoffs with the goal of the state tournament in the back of their minds. While time passes and her game expands as a player, she will be a high commodity when it’s said and done. As it stands now, I would already venture to say that she is one of the best rebounding point guards in the state.
