Journey Houston Journey Houston 5’11” | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA leads off our rankings in this update coming in at #1 in the class of 2025. Houston, a combo guard, is a special talent on the floor with her size, strength, and athleticism. She has an excellent feel for the ball while also having a soft touch around the rim. She likes to rebound and take the ball coast to coast for a finish on the other end if no one steps up on defense. Her IQ is second to none and her passing is always off of two feet with a bullseye-type pass to a teammate. This next AAU season starting in the spring of 2023, she will play for All Iowa Attack EYBL 17u out of Des Moines going into her sophomore year. By the time she gets to her senior season I can see her having the ability to go to any power 5 school she would like at the end of the day. Taking into account that her game will progress as the years do, which I don’t see being a problem.

2. Amani Jenkins Amani Jenkins 6'2" | C Johnston | 2025 State IA
Taking over the #2 spot in this Top 5 is Amani Jenkins Amani Jenkins 6’2″ | C Johnston | 2025 State IA of Des Moines North High School. Jenkins comes in as the #1 center in the state in the class of 2025. She is a versatile forward with great size for her age at around the height of 6’2. She can play a guard or center position, landing her more as a combo forward when it is all said and done. She has very fundamental and efficient post moves with a great up-and-under finish in her arsenal along with being able to knock down an open jump shot. She is a great defender with her lengthy and quickness, if there is ever a picking situation she can do anything asked of her by her coach to get around it or through it defensively. I had the opportunity to watch her compete in the Prep Hoops Top 250 this past fall and she led her team each game, showing her dominance from the opening tip. This season will be a big test for Jenkins as she will show what she has for her sophomore year as the leader of her squad.

3. Libby Fandel Libby Fandel 5'11" | SF Cedar Rapids Xavier | 2025 State IA
Libby Fandel Libby Fandel 5’11” | SF Cedar Rapids Xavier | 2025 State IA and the Cedar Rapids-Xavier Saints won their state championship last season with Fandel as their leader for her freshman year. They will attempt to keep that up, making it a tradition over the next few seasons for the young and skilled team. Fandel is a shooting guard who has the “it” factor when it comes to putting the ball into the hoop. At her size she is listed as a forward but plays with more of a guard mentality, even though she can be very successful at either position. Being an elite scorer from all three levels of the floor but also being selfless enough to pass to the open player isn’t always what we see with young stars but in this case, Fandel gets as much joy out of assisting her teammates as she does scoring the rock. Looking toward the college level she will be getting a lot of looks going forward as she has just joined up with a stacked All Iowa Attack EYBL 17u team for this upcoming spring. I anticipate her stock to keep on raising as her game does while leading her team to successful seasons over the next few years.
4. Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5'10" | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA
Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5’10” | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA returns to Dowling Catholic and our rankings in the #4 spot in our Top 5. Zediker, a quick point guard, had a very successful AAU season coming into this high school year for All Iowa Attack as their leader and knock down shooter when she has the space. She is a vocal leader who controls tempo well and pace even better. Something that really stands out about herself is the relentless defense she puts on opponents for the entirety of a game. When I had the chance to watch her compete this past summer, she played full court defense on the opposing teams point guard, the entire time she was in, while also being productive and in control on the offensive end for her teammates. This season for Dowling Catholic she is going to have a breakout season showing everyone that she is the #1 point guard in the class of 2025 in Iowa. She has had the opportunity to visit Iowa as recruit along with a few other big name schools, if she keeps up with the trajectory she is on, she will be a big time pick up for any college that can land her when it is all said and done.
5. Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6'0" | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA
Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6’0″ | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA joins up with Journey Houston Journey Houston 5’11” | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA on the court once again this season to dominate Iowa high school basketball at any level. Bourrage is a athletic combo guard who can really push the pace and ball out against her competition. She has a good feel for the ball off of the dribble and likes to attack the rim with aggression resulting in a foul and free throws or a finish over a weaker defender. She is crafty with her dribble and smart with the choices she makes on a regular basis. As the next two years go on, with the skill of Bourrage mixed along with Houston next to her, Davenport North High School is going to be a problem to deal with on a consistent basis. In this rankings update Divine comes in at #5 to close out the Top 5. Her high motor and crafty-ness with the ball really shines during each and every game, showing that she is a special player. Once this becomes more consistent the interest will grow and she will be an instant impact for whatever college is able to land her.
