Prep Girls Hoops Region Predictions:
Southside (Greenville) – The Tigers have added some pieces to the roster. Plenty of experience.
Wren HS – Riley Stack Riley Stack 6'5" | SF Wren | 2023 State SC – Coastal Carolina University commit, Raina McGowens Raina McGowens 5'10" | CG Wren | 2024 State SC and Deyana Hayes Deyana Hayes 6'1" | PF Wren | 2024 State SC on this roster. The Lady Hurricanes recently added Olivia Randolph Olivia Randolph 6'2" | PF Wren | 2024 State SC a transfer from Westside HS.
Powdersville HS – Maura Kindel and Sarah Snow will try to build on last year’s stats success for the Lady Patriots wo finished (18-11).
Palmetto HS – The Lady Mustangs finished (5-18) last season.
Belton-Honea Path – Kamiyah Christian Kamiyah Christian 5'5" | PG Belton-Honea Path | 2026 State SC looks to be the future of Lady Bears basketball.
Fountain Inn HS – New school just recently joined the SCHSL – 3 years old
Riley is off the board and headed down to Conway, SC to play for the Lady Chants next season at Coastal Carolina University. Stack is the Prep Girls Preseason Region Player of the Year. rnRiley averaged 17.2 ppg, 8.8 rebounds and 4.1 blocks last season for the Lady Hurricanes. She brings good versatility to the floor with her ability to knockdown shots on the perimeter. Great addition to new Chants Head Coach Kevin Pederson and his program moving forward.
Kamari averaged a double-double last season for the Lady Tigers at 16.2 ppg and 12.2 rebounds. Thompson is one of the top players in the 2023 class that remains uncommitted for next year. Kamari cleans up on the glass on both ends of the floor and really understands how to keep the ball up high after claiming it.
She does a good job of running the floor and filling the lane. Kamari can protect the rim at times after averaging 2.3 blocks last season.
Hatten made the move over to the Lady Tigers this off season from Legacy Early College. Kamya is a bit of a mismatch at times with her ability to play both forward positions. She never backs down from a challenge and she has a very good skill set. Kamya can handle the rock up the floor in transition and finish on the breakthrough contact. She will look to connect on some short jumpers from the corners.
Lauren comes over from nearby Mauldin HS to play for the Lady Tigers this season. Wearbon feels comfortable playing both guard spots in the backcourt. She can split the defenders getting ball to the rack to score or drop a dime off to open teammate. Lauren has the ability to score the ball from 3 levels on the floor.
Nolan is a solid floor general for the Lady Tigers. She averaged 9.3 ppg, 5.6 assists and 3.9 rebounds last season for the Lady Tigers (22-4). Quayla sees the floor as a pass first point guard and really understands on how to set up her teammates in the front court. She will share duties with Lauren Wearbon Lauren Wearbon 5’6″ | CG Southside | 2023 State SC in this talented backcourt this coming season for Head Coach Milton Parks.
Raina just recently picked up an offer from UNC-Asheville. McGowens really stuffed the stat line last season for the Lady Hurricanes. She averaged 15.7 ppg, 5.8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.6 steals.
Raina can play both guard positions comfortably and has great court awareness at all times. She and her teammates will look to make a deep run this season in Class 3A after dropping down from Class 4A.
Highlights
Randolph recently transferred over from nearby Westside HS (Anderson). Olivia helped Westside win the past 2 Class 4A State Championships and currently has a 38-game winning streak dating back to the 2020-21 season.
Olivia didn’t play on the Grassroots Circuit this past spring and summer. She recently played volleyball for the Lady Rams. Olivia is best suited on the defensive end of the floor and her ability to alter and challenge shots at times. She averaged 7.6 ppg, 9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game last season for the Lady Rams. She will be a great addition to an already talented Lady Hurricanes team this season.
Hayes is the UNSUNG hero on this Wren HS team. Deyana does the little things to help your team win games. She rebounds on both ends, brings hustle plays to the floor and does a great job of running the floor. Deyana will rebound out of her area very well. She will be the extra piece at times for the Lady Hurricanes to make a move this season. Hayes averaged 6.9 ppg and 8 rebounds last season for the Lady Hurricanes (20-6).
Lorick is a viable option for the Lady Tigers setting up shop out on the wing as a shooter. She really does a good job of setting her feet and receiving the ball in the pocket. Jakayla constantly plays very active away from the ball while on the floor. She has no problems defending on the ball with good ball pressure at times.
