Here are some players who stood out during the game:
Dailey shows a broad skill set that causes problems for the opposition. She couples excellent perimeter skills with an ability to post up or drive to the basket. She also plays aggressively and with an edge. She works hard. She overcame foul trouble in this contest to net a game-high 19 points, which included a 3-of-5 night from behind the arc.
It’s hard imagining there are many more advanced, complete sophomores in the state than Bartlett. She’s an effective lead guard running the break and in the half court. She sees the floor really well and features the skills to take advantage of that view. She’s athletic and strong, which also shows up on defense and in rebounding.
The junior understands her role and plays it well. She gets her offense when it’s there but doesn’t force the action. She crashes the glass well for her size and moves her feet smoothly on defense. She shows good handles and plays with toughness.
Another sophomore on which to keep an eye, Hinze complements here teammates well. She’s a lock-down defender, handles the ball well and boasts the quickness to dribble by opponents. She kicks it out to open teammates when the defense collapses on her.
The Minnesota State signee is one of the state’s top guards. She’s a two-way standout that runs the show on offense and disrupts opponents with on-ball defense on the other end. She’s at her best penetrating. She can get to the basket and finish or collapse defenses for kick-outs.
The Dakota State recruit patrols the lane on defense, daring the opposition to try her. The offerings often are sent back from where they came. She’s long and athletic, allowing her to help teammates and protect the rim. She’s a really good passer from the post on offense and can get hers when it’s there.
Madeline Casey
Madeline Casey
Leave Casey open from the outside at your own risk. The sophomore displays beautiful form on her jump shot with serious range. She moves well without the ball, freeing herself up for good looks even when the defense tracks her. She handles the ball well. She can defend and rebound nicely for her size.
Janessa Mosley
Janessa Mosley
Oh boy, I see a lot of upside here. Mosley is just scratching the surface of what she can be. You see flashes of brilliance when watching her play. When she finds consistency, look out. I was impressed with her willingness and ability in posting up. She also has game on the perimeter. She hits the glass hard and sticks her nose in defensively.
