With that said, I wanted to take the time to highlight five Sophomores who have increased their scoring averages early this season by more than eight points per game from a year ago. These Class of 2025 prospects have been light’s out to begin the 2022-2023 campaign.
Leonie Boyer, 2025, 5-7 G/F, Rushville Consolidated H.S.
– In 21 games as a rotation player during her Freshman season, Leonie was a solid 4.8 point per game contributor to a veteran Rushville team. This season, her role has expanded significantly, and she has proven herself to be a legitimate scoring threat each night. She is averaging 18.4 points per game through five games, with a high of 36 points. She has done it primarily by attacking the basket, scoring around the rim, in the mid-post, and from the charity stripe. The Sophomore wing has also been an effective rebounder, grabbing 7.8 caroms per game thus far. If she can add a consistent 3-point shot to the mix, she is going to be an even bigger headache for opponents.

, 2025, 5-7 G, Alexandria-Monroe H.S.
– Jacklynn started her career off solidly, averaging 13.7 points per game as a rookie. Somehow, she’s up 13.0 points per game, now averaging 26.7 points through six games in her Sophomore season. She is a long, fluid, and somewhat smooth guard. She has some touch outside, and she’s knocking down nearly three times as many 3-pointers per game as last year, but she’s also a slashing scorer who glides to the basket with relative ease. She utilizes her tremendous length defensively, getting a number of steals and deflections. She also has the skillset to slide over and take on more of a point guard role, but with her scoring it like this, why would you want her to?

, 2025, 6-3 F, South Bend Washington H.S.
– Anyone who saw Washington play last year knew that when Kira’s older sister, Mila, graduated, there were going to be some big shoes to fill. Well, Kira has taken on a lot of Mila’s production, and then some. The 6-3 2025 prospect has really upped her offensive output, going from 10.2 points per game as a Freshman, to 19.1 through seven games this time around. Additionally, she has increased her rebounding, primarily offensively, averaging an impressive 6.6 offensive rebounds per game. She’s also improved her assists and steals, and she is shooting a hot 71% from the field. As she continues to develop her face-up game, expect her scoring to continue to grow.
Madison Sonsini, 2025, 5-11 G/F, Richmond H.S.
– While three games aren’t necessarily a huge sample size, Madison has scored in double figures all three games and more than doubled her Freshman average of 8.0 points per game to 19.7 in Year-2. She is an extremely long, fluid, and rather crafty wing scorer who does a nice job of using her mid-range game and her ability to get to the bucket to her advantage. She is still developing her 3-point shot, but as soon as she finishes growing and begins to add strength, I think that part of her game will begin to come around. Honestly, she just needs time to finish growing and figuring out her athleticism, as it seems like she has grown a couple of inches each year.
Kaleah Williams, 2025, 5-5 G, Fort Wayne North Side H.S.
– From a win/loss standpoint, North Side hasn’t been terribly successful in girls’ basketball over the past several seasons. However, Kaleah is doing everything in her power to help change that. A quick, fast, and athletic guard, Kaleah has taken the 6.5 points per game she averaged in 13 games as a Freshman and turned that into 17.4 points per game through seven games as a Sophomore. A big part of that has been created at the defensive end of the floor, where she has upped her rebounding to 4.6 caroms per game, and she is stealing the ball at a rate of 7.3 times per contest this season. She is a true bright spot for the North Side Lady Legends in 2022-2023.
