Kim Davis Powell and John McGraw got together to host the 2022 Show-N-Prove Showcase in Bradenton, FL at IMG Academy. The two-day event featured some of the state’s top players across the 2023-2030 classes. We were in attendance for both days and will break down the performance of the event’s top players. Here we look at the top performances on by the class of 2027.
Ameera Kone Ameera Kone 6'0" | PG Boca Raton | 2027 State FL – 5’10 Guard (Boca Middle / Essence)
Kone was one the top young players in the showcase, often getting confused for a player 1-2 years older as she played up in age and competition most of the event. She is bigger and stronger than all the players in the class of 2027 that she went up against with a strong offensive skill set. She plays hard and aggressive on both ends of the floor and with a lot of emotion. She is a competitor that wants to win and is constantly around the basketball. Potential big time prospect to keep an eye on with her continued development.
Harmeni Eugene Harmeni Eugene 5'7" | PG Cardinal Gibbons | 2027 State FL (Pioneer Middle School / Below The Rim) – 5’7 Guard
Eugene is always one of my favorite players to watch as she is aggressive and feisty on both ends of the floor. She is very effective with the ball in her hands, handling the ball vs pressure and attacking the paint off the dribble, getting to the rim often. She plays hard and with an infectious energy, getting after it equally as hard on the defensive end as she does on the offensive end.
Vanessa VanCott Vanessa VanCott 5'7" | SG Mater Lakes academy | 2027 State FL (Mater Lakes / Team MVP) – 5’9 Point Guard
Vancott was the top 2027 I saw in the showcase. Her long, athletic frame is impressive and one of the key factors that make her a big time prospect. She runs the floor with ease, taking long, graceful strides, covering the same distance in a lot less steps. She was very affective getting to the rim, often blowing by her defender with a quick first step and an aggressive move putting the ball to the floor. She finished at the rim over defnders and vs contact effectively. Remember the name – Vanessa VanCott Vanessa VanCott 5'7" | SG Mater Lakes academy | 2027 State FL – BIG TIME PROSPECT!!!!
Aaliyah Figueroa – 5’10 Wing (Lake Nona Middle School / Central Florida Elite)
Figueroa stood out for her 5’10 frame despite just being a in middle school. She is tall, long and athletic and had 2-3 inches on all her competition in the class of 2027. Figueroa is a young, developing player who is two years away from being in high school that is certainly someone to keep an eye on and a potential top 25 player in the class of 2027 that can play college ball.
Mikayla Volcy Mikayla Volcy 5'8" | PF Cardinal Gibbons | 2027 State FL (David Lawrence / Florida Lady Huskies ) – 5’7 Forward
Volcy is an undersized post player that plays strong and aggressive in the paint. She did a good job down low, once establishing position in the low post as she is hard to move out of the lane due to her mass. She finished well on putbacks off of offensive rebounds and drop passes from guards.
Alyssa Hill Alyssa Hill 5'10" | SF Cardinal Gibbons | 2027 State FL (St. Gregory / FGB South) – 5’9 Guard / Wing
Hill is a young, versatile perimeter player that continues to improve each time I see her play. She is a hungry player who is committed to her development, and it shows. She has continued to develop her handle and outside shooting. She did a good job attacking the rim off the dribble when the defenders pressured her and knocked down the open shot when left open.
