The Milwaukee Academy of Science sophomore exploded onto the scene against Racine Case and scored 42 points in a dominant win for the Novas. I saw her a few times over the summer and liked her ability to create off the dribble. Against Case, Turner took 22 shots from the field and made 18 of them. In addition, Turner also converted four of the five 3-point attempts she took in the win. Everyone knows how good Lalani Ellis Lalani Ellis 5'7" | PG Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2023 State WI and Beautiful Waheed Beautiful Waheed 5'9" | CG Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2023 State WI are, and if there is another guard teams must worry about, this becomes scary in the postseason.
Makenzie Luehring Makenzie Luehring 5'6" | PG Kettle Moraine Lutheran | 2025 State WI
In the last week, Luehring is averaging 33.3 points per contest after scoring 42 points against Xavier and 40 against Ripon. Luehring has had an interesting past year at Kettle Moraine Lutheran. She began her freshman season on JV, where I first saw her, and ended up leading the Chargers in scoring by the end of the year. Then had a solid summer and now has two of the nine 40-point games in the state in the first three weeks of the season.
Sydney Cherney Sydney Cherney 5'6" | CG Reedsburg | 2024 State WI
Watching Cherney fly around for a talented Reedsburg team last season was an experience and a half. This season, Cherney had to step up to keep the Beavers competitive after losing a talented senior class last spring. I don’t think Cherney could have done more to begin this season. In the past two games, Cherney averaged 39 points and has been the most influential player on the floor by a considerable margin. If anyone can handle the volume to carry an offense like that, I’d bet on Sydney Cherney Sydney Cherney 5'6" | CG Reedsburg | 2024 State WI .
Reese Rogowski
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood guard is an explosive athlete who can create with the ball in her hands. The senior recorded a double-double against Rosholt with 27 points and 11 assists. The Charger also plays the passing lanes well. Opposing teams don’t think they have anything to worry about when she plays one pass away, but one pass away for Rogowski is about a quarter of a pass away. Rogowski is one of the best athletes in the state that doesn’t get talked about enough.
